We all know Cheese Crisps: it’s practical, beautiful, light, crispy, an enhancer to any dish and the easiest thing to do ever! Gruyere Cheese Crisps is the upgraded version of Cheese Crisps: the salt grains from Gruyere remain in the crisp as a delicious surprise, and its nutty flavor is unbeatable! Here is how to bake these Gruyere Cheese Crisps.
- 200g Gruyere Cheese
Preheat the oven to 180C.
Grate your cheese thinly and shape some cirles (or any form you want) on a baking tray covered with a silicon backmate or parchment paper. Space your circles from at least 5 cm to avoid a mess.
To this point you can also add some flavorings: ground black pepper, cumin seeds, curry, herbs…
Bake them from 3 to 5 minutes : the cheese needs to melt, bubble and take a light crispy aspect. Take out from the oven before it turns brown.
If you want to give a special shape to your crisps, it is now or never! You need to handle them immediately and still warm because from the moment they’re cold, they will solidify. Place them for example on a rolling spin for a curved shape, on the bottom of a bowl for a bowly aspect etc. One minute later, they should be ready.
In our 10 Cheeses from Switzerland video, we served them layered with some cream cheese seasoned with fresh herbs, lemon zests and black olives. You can also just eat them as they are, add them on top of a risotto or a gazpacho for example. Variations for the use of Gruyere Cheese Crisps are infinite!
